I’m just a girl, born and raised in Indiana, who has a passion for cycling and the outdoors. My dream is to someday ride my bike from coast to coast.
When I was 16 years old, I was working as a waitress in a family restaurant in Terre Haute, Indiana. One summer day, a grandmother and her 10-year-old grandson came into the restaurant for pancakes. The sidewalk was visible from the restaurant, and I noticed that they arrived on two extremely loaded bicycles. I asked where they were going, and the woman said that she had taken the summer off to ride across the country with her grandson. I remember feeling at that moment that I wanted to take off my waitress uniform and go with them on their adventure! It is a feeling that I have never forgotten.
Fast forward many years later to a family, a career, a mortgage, cats, and other responsibilities that have caused me to postpone, but not forget my dream. That brings me to today, where I am still just a girl from Indiana wanting to take off my work clothes and set out to parts unknown on a bike.
This blog was created so that I can document my cycling adventures in my own backyard, Indiana and the midwest, until the day I can set sail.
Good reading and pics‼️
Just saw your blog… awesome. I’m not sure why I didn’t see it before. LOL.
I’ve been told I should do something similar… it seems like a lot of work though, and time I never seem to be able to make. My brother is much better at it than I, anyways… https://leadville50.wordpress.com/
Maybe I’ll just hire him!
Well done! Keep finding adventure!
Thanks. It is a lot of work. It’s going to be hard to be motivated to write in the summer when all I want to do is ride!
The Leadville blog is awesome!
May all your dreams come true and take me with you. Lenie

Yes! I’ll take you with me! There’s a Wisconsin Barn Tour charity ride on August 22nd. Are you in?! Girls weekend!
I’m so sorry to hear about your broken arm! At last, a solid reason to avoid the cold and indulge in some hot vegan cocoa. So take it easy and you deserve some R&R. Let me know if there is something I can do to ease the recovery.
Get well soon, Lenie
Love you Lenie.
Hi Lou,
Thanks for sending the link to your blog by way of STRAVA. I’ll be keeping up with all your posts going forward and know you’ll tell great stories about every new adventure you chase after.
My humble blog can be found at http://www.theroadbiker.com
Thanks Gerry. I’ll check yours out!
Hey Lou!
Just thought you should post some info about your recent double century ride. Would love to hear some of your thoughts on how you managed such an amazing ride and how you fueled yourself along the way.
Done Gerry! Thanks for the support!
Just came across your blog. I no longer ride my Madone as hard and fast as I used too. I’m 58 and just got my first Fat Tire. Looking for a group of women my age to ride with this winter if you know of some. Sawyer, MI. Used to live in Chesterton and go back often.
So sorry! I haven’t checked the blog in ages and I just came across this. Are you on Strava? We have a group of riders who typically ride all winter on fatbikes. You can check out our club on Strava – Rollaphati. Also, I’m on Strava as Lou Richey. We love to ride along the beach when the shelf ice comes.
Hi Lou, Just found your blog. Great reading & blog! Trying to reach you to see if you’d be interested in joining our a Fat Bike Women’s Relay race this weekend in Three Rivers on Sunday1/19/20
FB msg me if you are interested!
